True institution in the 7th arrondissement since 1908, La Fontaine de Mars is one of these lovely old-fashioned Parisian bistros. With waiters wearing black aprons and tables covered in red and white squared tablecloths, this restaurant has it all to take us back in time. Need proof? Each day of the week is dedicated to one of French cuisine’s classics: traditional blanquette on Thursdays, lag of suckling lamb on Saturdays and free-range roasted chicken and mash on Sundays! A family address where confused noise is “acceptable” in the summer when the bistro spreads under the archways, for lunch on the terrace to the sound of the fountain (former trough for the horses of the Imperial Guard). Enchanting.
